ESCMID Study Group Elections: Less than one week to go!

On Friday, March 26th, we have opened the election phase for the Executive Committee of the Study Groups listed below. Members of these Study Groups are invited to vote until April 9th.

To access the voting platform, log in to my.escmid.org with your ESCMID credentials and click on the “Study Group Elections” icon. You can submit your votes for each election only one time, so make sure that you have selected all candidates you wish to vote for before submitting. Also remember that only one candidate per country can be elected to sit on the executive committee.

The Study Groups that are having elections are: ESGAI, ESGB, ESGBIES, ESGEM, ESGIAI, ESGICH, ESGMAC, ESGMD, ESGNI, ESGVH, ESGVM.

As a new part of the broader ECCMID programme, ESCMID is launching a call for submission of original photography documenting inspiring moments during pandemic times. We also welcome any other form of artwork, such as painting, pastels, poetry or prose!

Submitted original works will be included in a special gallery that will be available on the ECCMID online platform.

BHIVA guidelines on immunisation for adults with HIV: SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) 2021 - consultation open

The British HIV Association has developed guidelines aiming to provide information for healthcare professionals on the use of SARS-CoV-2 immunisation in people with HIV. CMI highlight: SARS-CoV-2 escape mutants and protective immunity from natural infections or immunizations

Although coronaviruses have lower mutation rates than other respiratory RNA viruses, the scale of the pandemic has brought the importance of viral evolution for coronaviruses to centre stage. Three recently detected SARS-CoV-2 lineages (B.1.1.7, B.1.351, and P.1), have been scrutinized because they are unusually divergent and each possesses a unique constellation of mutations of potential biological importance, several of which are in the gene coding for the Spike protein. The authors briefly summarize the current knowledge on these variants, and their possible implications.
